ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charlotte was born in the U.K. in 1959 and graduated from medical school in London, England in 1982. After postgraduate training she embarked on a career in Family Medicine while raising her two children. In 1997 she and her young family immigrated to Canada finally settling in Calgary in 2004 where she has a full time position in Family Medicine.
Over her 30 years in Family Practice she has cared for all ages, including maternal and newborn care, children, teens, adults and seniors, and has provided medical care for a spectrum of sportsmen and women , including tennis players and elite Olympic athletes.
Charlotte has undertaken postgraduate training in Homoeopathy and Acupuncture. She has special expertise in the use of Acupuncture ear seeds for pain relief in acute musculoskeletal injuries.
She has a lifelong love of tennis (and still plays) and is a founding member of the WTCA (Women’s Tennis Coaching Association) writing the female physiology module for the baseline coach’s course in 2016.
Dr. Alabaster is a contributing author to The Complete Player published in 2018, writing the chapter on the importance of nutrition for Junior players.
She is a national and international speaker, including presentations in Singapore at the 2017 International Auriculotherapy Symposium and in New York in August 2018 where she presented at the second WTCA conference with a workshop on Tennis Burnout – Causes and Cure.
Charlotte is a regular contributor to coaching groups on social media, generously sharing her expertise and knowledge in the hope of taking this wonderful game of tennis to that next level.
Her 30 years in family practice has provided her with well rounded experience and her appetite for finding best practice and out of the box solutions makes her an invaluable resource in the tennis community.
